Stitching withdrawal symptom

Hi folks

It has been while since my last post. I have some sort of stitching done but it's nothing compared to what I achieved last year. And that makes me feel desperate. I guess it's partly because I have been busier and therefore have less stitching time. Having said that, when I do have spare time, I just could not sit tight to stitch. I feel like I am loosing my eagerness towards stitching yet again.

One of my friends, who has similar problem with me, told me that because she is bored with confetti stitching and doesn't feel like doing it anymore. And she is leaning toward simpler design or speciality stitches. I am not so sure if it's my problem because I still feel the love for it somehow but it's just getting frustrated for me. I was trying to finish Sullenly Sweet by Sheena Pike. I was sooooo close, only 1 full page left. But it takes me forever. I just can't focus. I feel horrible. My ultimate plan is that once I have Sullenly Sweet done, I can have a spare pair of Pakos (floss organizer) so that I can use it for a brand new start (yup, running out of it). I am doubting myself now that I could ever finish it. I feel frustrated and guilty at the same time. I honestly don't know what's wrong.

Many of my stitch fellows advised me to step away from Sullenly Sweet and start something new, simple and small. However, the guilt of not finishing the chart - when it's so close - but starting a new one makes me feel overwhelming. I deliberately started something small but same thing happened, I stand up after a few stitches.

I need help :-(

xoxo

  1. Stitching is supposed to be fun & pleasurable - don't feel bad about putting something aside for a while. Maybe you just need a change of pace - something you wouldn't normally choose to stitch - not too fussy & detailed, simple, cheerful & colorful. Or maybe you just need to step away from stitching for a bit and one day you will come back with a renewed enthusiasm. Don't be too hard on yourself.

  2. Start stitching something you really love. Then do a rotation and set yourself a goal. Even if it's only a block of 100 stitches before you go back to your new project it'll get finished :)

  3. Well firstly you need to stop being so hard on yourself. Stitching bugs up and leave all of us at one time or another. Mine is just hanging in there by a thread, pun intended, at the moment. Give yourself a break and maybe step away from the stitching for a little bit. If you are lacking motivation you won't get anything done anyway and feel guilty on top of it. Maybe if you take a break you won't have the guilt and will feel like picking it up again soon. Hope it comes back to you in the very near future.

  4. Try to do one strand on it and then work on something else. Go back and forth that way.

  5. When I lose my stitching mojo, I like to look at other stitchers work and stash. Then I get excited and want to stitch again. It might take a week; or it might take a month.

  6. I feel for you - its horrible when you suddenly lose that stitching feeling... I love different crafts so when I don't want to stitch, I take up knitting or crochet or sewing for a while. Otherwise I find it a good help to look around at different stitching sites until I find a new easy project that I fall in love with and REALLY want to stitch. Something new and something DIFFERENT. Dont feel guily about starting something new or anything else - it's your hobby and you can do what you want with it!!!

  7. You've already been given some great advice...The tips about trying a different craft and being inspired by other blogs have both worked for me in the past. You stitch some amazing projects and I hope you feel motivated again soon, but it's a hobby and it should be fun. Good luck!

  10. Keep your head up, girl, we all have these days where we don't seem to be able to focus and get things done, but they will pass away. First of all, you need to relax, if you force yourself to stitch something you don't want it will only get worse ;-) Maybe an evening without stitching (with a good book and a nice cup of tea, tea always does the trick!) will help you relax and then just work on whatever you truly feel like =) You are stitching so much and so fast, you will finish Sullenly Sweet in no time ;-) Everything will be back in order soon =)

  11. I really feel for stitchers who go through very emotional phases of loss of mojo and guilt. Try not to feel guilty about putting a project aside. One day you'll get the urge to finish it, but if you force yourself you'll get no pleasure. As others have said, though, it's your hobby and you need to stitch as you feel fit. :)

  12. Sweetie you are way way way too hard on yourself. You have a lot going on with Fiberlicous threads. Stitching is supposed to be fun and when you put pressure on yourself like you are it is sucking the fun out of it. Be kind to yourself and don't get crazy about it all. It's just one little cross after another. Relax babe, breathe and then do whatever makes you feel happy whether it be stitching or just singing in the shower. LOL Take care stunner xo
